8500 Series
The 8500-Series 40 Gbps Long Reach (LR) Transponder is a 300-pin MSA
module representing the next generation of 40 Gbps transponder products.
The 8500 transponder uses the very latest digital signal processing (DSP) chip
technology to mitigate transmission impairments, such as chromatic dispersion
and polarization mode dispersion, along with Lumentum optical transmitter and
coherent receiver technology for a compact solution that supports the latest
features and protocols.
The 8500 transponder incorporates advanced DSP technology that supports 43.0
and 44.6 Gbps dual bit rates, allowing it to operate in a wide variety of networking
application protocols, including OTU-3, OTU3e1, and OTU3e2.
The module uses the Non-Return to Zero (NRZ) DP-(D)QPSK modulation format
with coherent detection complies with the industry-standard 300-pin MSA. It
supports operation over links with up to 55,000 ps/nm of dispersion and 100 ps DGD.
The 8500 transponder supports 40 Gbps line-side applications for DWDM
transmission systems, cross-connects, optical routers/switches, and SONET/SDH
transmission systems.
